Looking for a way
to combine his interest in historical railways, his hobby of
model making and his carpentry skills, Jon decided it was time
to change direction and pursue a career doing what he loves to
do, making things! To be more precise, he needed to find a way
to become a professional model maker, whilst still working on
large scale projects.
Jon had spent many
years working in the building trade, mainly restoring old houses
and specializing in timber frame repairs. He also made, for a
number of years, 12 scale architectural models of timber framed
(or half timbered) buildings. Most notable of which was his model
based on 'Bodenhams' the famous Ludlow shop building of the 15th
century, currently under renovation, (the model that is, not
the real building. More on that later).
Jon decided it was
now or never and the idea for signal box sheds was born. This
is the clever bit, although they are sheds, they are also cleverly
crafted models, of varying scales, depending on the customer's
requirements. Ever wanted a model you could climb inside?
